ADOPTION PROCESS
ADOPTING THROUGH WBARC
WBARC strives to place our animals into permanent, loving homes. Our application screening process is thorough for the benefit of both the potential adopter as well as the animal. Many of our animals come from unknown backgrounds, and because of this we make no guarantees to their temperaments, level of training, or health. When planning for a new pet, future life changes such as marriage, divorce, relocation, additions to the family, career changes, allergies, etc. must be taken into consideration. Additionally, as an adopter, you are responsible for any vaccinations required after you adopt the animal. Medical records are provided after the adoption and no treatments should be done until you have reviewed these records with your vet.

ADOPTION PROCESS
The process begins by filling out and completing the online adoption application.
Once received, WBARC will review your application. Please remember that we are a volunteer based organization and may not get back to you right away. We strive to respond to all applicants as efficiently as possible. We have the right to decline any application that we feel is not a match for our animals.
Once your application is approved, the adoption coordinator will facilitate a home check as well as a meet and greet (either Zoom or in person) between you and the adoptable animal. Depending on the situation, the meet and greet can take place at either the foster family's home, in your home, or at a neutral location. During the meets, you get to hang out with the animal and ask the foster parent about the behavior and personality of the animal to determine if they will be a good fit in your home. Some modification to this process will be determined during COVID-19 restrictions.
If you are still interested in adopting after the meet and greet and everyone (adoption team, foster) is in agreement, a longer visit in your home will be arranged. Mostly, this is just to make sure you have the space the animal requires and the animal fits in with your family.
If everything goes well the adopting family signs the adoption contract, payment is made and you can welcome your new furry family member home. Please know that our rescue animals cannot be released without a signed adoption contract and fee payment. All medical files will be released to the adopter at this time.
